Way too Early Look at 2023

It has been a brief 45 days since Georgia ran TCU out of the building to claim their 2nd consecutive national title, but that doesn't mean that we can't look forward to next year! Using the Vegas odds for 2023, let's see who the current favorites are to win it all next year, and how likely that actually is:

1.) Georgia (+220)

The Dawgs will once again have to try to defend their crown. Some people are saying that they may actually be better than Nick Saban's Tide, which is an interesting debate. I like the talent Georgia has with a 2nd ranked class coming in, but the Dawgs are outside of the top 25 in terms of returning production. That means new faces that will have to head to Knoxville and eventually go against Coach Saban.

2.) Alabama (+550)

Nick Saban has been doubted, which is a very dangerous thing for the rest of the college football world. No, he hasn't been lost to the times or lost touch or any other non-sense like that. The bar was set high by Coach Saban, and I have a feeling that he is ready to once again reach the pinnacle of the sport. He is bringing in the top recruiting class and 2 new coordinators, which should improve how far next year's team gets.

3.)Ohio State (+750)

The Buckeyes went from walking home stunned November 26th, to watching the Big Ten championship at home, to one of the most thrilling playoff games to-date. The Buckeye faithful were questioning Ryan Day, but I can't see how that would be reasonable now. He was a missed kick away from playing for a national title. With a top 5 recruiting class and plenty of talent, this could once again be a good year for Ohio State. The Buckeyes have plenty of reasons to be hopeful, but how do they do against Michigan this year?

4.) Michigan (+1000)

Ranked number 5 in returning production, I definitely believe that Michigan will once again have at least 11 wins this season. The wolverines started 13-0 with a Big Ten Championship before falling to TCU in the semifinal. With the return of their starting quarterback and a 1,000 yard rusher, the Wolverines should once again have a run at a Big Ten title and a playoff berth.

5.) USC (+1600)

The Trojans return a good bit of their team, including last year's Heisman winner. Coach Lincoln Reilly has had time to recruit and bring in the No. 12 class, according to 247. Last year, the Trojans had a hard time putting the Utes away, and 2 of the 3 losses came to Utah. I look for USC to overcome that this year and bring a conference title and a potential playoff berth.

In my opinion, the only thing harder than a repeat is a threepeat. Georgia is incredibly good, and I think they will once again make the championship game, but that is where I believe the Dawgs will meet their match. My early prediction is that Bama will take that game and the Dawgs come up just short. I would say that a team like Tennessee may beat them during the season, but they still make the title game.
